Why I started personal blog ?
The first question come to my mind when I was considering build this blog is why I need it? Well, since I have been in this industry for more than a decade, from network cabling, installing and configuring big metal devices to drilling into the Linux booting process and playing around with namespaces and cgroup, from implementing VoIP solution for multi-national organizations to building Telecom Core Network NFV infrastructure which impacted hundreds of millions of people, I have been through numerous projects which extreme wide range of technologies and product lines.
However, without a place to leave a trail of them, firstly they will be easily forgoten, especially when people also need to taking care of the family beside the work, jumping among various roles and tech stacks.
Secondly, I think is also the most important so I’d like to further explain, is that if one look for new oppotunities, the trust is vital for one get hired.
Just imagine if you are about to hire someone, you did not know him/her at all, and there is no reference, the only information from the person you have for your decision making will be resume/CV, there you can tell whether the cadidate has a good education background, the past experiences, skill sets, etc. Base on those you would have a rough judgement to say if if the person suitable for the position.
However, sad truth is, to some extence, those could be overstated or even fabricated. So that is point where the interview process come into play, but the interview is not usually a good measure to determine whether the cadidate could excel the work.
In that case, if a candidate has a blog which leaves a good trail of his insights for the tech, previews works, experiences, projects either from company or personal side projects, that could make a good evidence and also gives a tons of confidence and trust to potential employeers for them to say “This is the person we want!”
Therefore, I will try my best to post blogs regulary and try to do more hands-on project and leave a trail of them here, not only for my personal growth but also to share with people in same interest, casue I always believe that the best way of learning is teaching and sharing.
